Nope! We have studio machines available for you to use (we use Pfaff Ambition 610s and 620s - our favourite!)… but if you’d like to bring your own, for most lessons and classes you’re very welcome to — especially if you’d like help getting more confident with it.

Just let us know before the lesson, and bring the manual with you if you have it.

If you’re attending a group class, please check the description as some beginner classes require you to add on an extra session to get to know your own machine.

No problem at all! Many of our students are complete beginners. We’ll guide you through everything step by step in a relaxed, no-pressure environment.

Many of our classes are designed for people who’ve never sewn before - but if you need a confidence boost, you can book a 1:1 session here beforehand to master the basics.

All 1:1 lessons are tailored towards you, your experience, and your goals.

Craft Workshops

If you’re booking 1:1 sessions (either a single lesson, or a block of 5 or 10) you’ll be emailed a link to our booking tool to choose your slots after payment. We have sessions available daytimes, evenings, and some weekends - so we can usually fine something that works for you, but feel free to reach out to us if you’d like to check availability first.

For most craft workshops, yes — everything’s provided. Check the event description to be sure.

For sewing classes, materials are included for beginner projects (such as the zipped makeup bag). For personal or dressmaking projects, students may be asked to bring fabric and patterns—guidance will be provided in advance and on the event description.

For our advanced classes, we will make it clear what you’ll need to bring as this depends on the class subject.

We don’t have a set lower age limit - and we work with children, teenagers, and adults. For our group classes, the age range will be specified in the description so that we can tailor the workshop to the appropriate age group.

We run after school sessions for kids and teenagers, and extra weekend and school holiday sewing workshops and craft clubs also.

We can work with any age for our 1:1 lessons, but ask that a parent stays with anyone under 10 for at least the first session. Or, why not learn together? We love it when parents and their kids work as a team to learn new skills!

We’re right in Chesham old town, just a short walk from the high street and station. You’ll get all the details on how to find the studio when you book.

The studio currently has private parking for 2 - 3 cars, and parking is always available for our 1:1 or 1:2 lessons.

Parking in Chesham old town is very limited, so out of respect for the neighbours we ask that you park in one of the pay and display car parks if there is no space at the studio. Water Meadow car park is only a 5 minute walk away and has plenty of space. You can walk along the River Chess chalk stream to the studio!

That’s fine! We ask for at least 48 hours notice to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations or rescheduling with less than 48 hours’ notice may be charged at the usual rate.
