*May cause excessive fabric shopping. You’ve been warned…*

If they’re a beginner, here is what they could expect to learn:

🧵 1 Lesson (2hrs) – A beginner-friendly introduction covering essential sewing machine skills and techniques. They will leave knowing how to thread and use the machine, use a variety of stitches, finish seams, sew a stretch stitch, and tackle curves and corners.

🧵 5 Lessons (2hrs each) – Builds on the basics with zips, gathering, pleats, French seams, and more. Includes a zipped and lined makeup bag or wash bag project (materials provided). If they’re super speedy, they may be able to move on to tackle a simple dressmaking project.

🧵 10 Lessons (2hrs each) – Covers everything above, plus dressmaking techniques like darts, setting in sleeves, buttonholes, and pockets. The recipient will learn how to ‘read’ a pattern, select the right fabric, and complete an intermediate garment project, such as a dress, skirt, trousers, or top. By the end of the 10 sessions, they’ll have developed the skills to tackle most sewing projects on their own at home - or join our more advanced workshops!

For more experienced sewists looking for a refresher or develop new skills, sessions will be tailored to meet their goals. Topics can include pattern ‘hacking’ or adaptation, pattern cutting and design, solving tricky fitting issues, mastering zips or buttonholes, up-cycling and mending, sewing with stretch, overlocker skills - or anything else they can think of!
