1:1 sessions are ideal if you’re just starting and wanting a confidence boost, or if you’re an experienced stitcher looking to sharpen your skills and focus on something specific.

Work on a specific project, learn how to use your sewing machine, tackle fitting issues, draft patterns, or take on a new technique – it's entirely up to you. Sessions are flexible and completely tailored to your needs.

Fancy learning as a duo? We also offer a discounted rate for two friends or family members who want to learn together. It’s our favourite thing!

After payment, you will be emailed a link to the studio’s booking platform to schedule your sessions. Feel free to reach out to check availability first - however we have daytime, evening, and weekend sessions available.

“ I’M A BEGINNER - HOW MANY SESSIONS DO I NEED? ”

  • 1 LESSON

    If you’re starting from scratch, you can expect to learn:

    - How to wind a bobbin

    - Threading the machine

    - Backtacking

    - Straight and zigzag stitches

    - Stretch stitches

    - Sewing corners and curves

    - Simple seam finishes

    If you’re more experienced, disregard this section. 1:1 lessons can be entirely tailored to you - work on a tricky fitting issue, mending and alterations, pattern drafting - or anything else you can think of!

  • 5 LESSONS

    Everything in the previous section, plus:

    - Zip insertion

    - Buttonholes

    - Gathering and pleating

    - French seams

    - Hems

    - Topstitching

    You will put these skills into practice by making a fully lined, zipped makeup bag / washbag with boxed corners and topstitching (materials provided)

    If you’re super speedy, and happy to take on a little homework, you may be able to move on to a simple dressmaking project, e.g a boxy top

  • 10 LESSONS

    Everything in the previous two sections, plus:

    - How to ‘read’ a sewing pattern

    - Choosing the right fabrics for projects

    - Darts

    - Pockets

    - Elastic insertion

    - ‘Setting in’ sleeves

    You will put this into practice by completing an intermediate dressmaking project such as a top, dress, skirt, or trousers.

    By the end of the 10 sessions, you’ll have developed the skills to tackle most sewing projects on your own at home - or join our more advanced workshops!
